Friday

On Friday we watched the coolest movie: "The Unknown Universe" highlighting microphotography (an intrest of mine) and really showing you what modern microscopy can do! Enjoy!Absent? Come check the movie out from me on Monday if you are interested!

Mon, Tue, Wed

The first three days in class this week we worked on our milk lab. On Monday we took data and then worked on learning how to determine if bacteria are gram + or gram -. On Tuesday we took the whole class period staining our bacterial sample. It was really messy and some kids are still stained with crystal violet (can't say I didn't warn ya!).

On Wednesday we presented our data to the class. Use this data and the new modified formal lab rubric to put together a formal lab write up, due next Friday!

Test for you guys on Wednesday. I passed out a test review-see make-up work box.

Friday

On Friday we took the Chapter 19-20 Vocab quiz. See me to schedule a make-up time before/after school or duing advisory. It will take about 20 min.

We aslo stamped the HIV coloring and turned in the vocab assignment to the box.

Collected data on plates growing bacteria and milk temp/level of coagulation.

Wednesday

On Wednesday we:
Took our third day of data for the milk bacteria lab
Innoculated plates with bacterial growth from the milk AND chose a special place to swab and innoculate from the school building (drains, sinks, Senor's microwave)
Bacteria are growing and hopefully we will have colonies by Friday.

Tuesday

On Tuesday we continued with the bacterial milk lab, took notes over viruses, and finished a survey for the science department on the science fair (see Ms. H for yours!)

Monday

On Monday we began the bacterial milk lab

Friday 3-14

Friday we are taking the test over chapters 16 and 18 and the work that we did in class on phylogenetics and cladistics. The latter is NOT in your science book but it will be a major portion of the test.

Hello Honors!

On Wednesday we:
1. Stamped the bacteria coloring from Tuesday
2. Finished up the bacteria notes
3. Passed out the vocab assignment, due 3-21 (next Friday)
4. Reminder for the test Friday (here is the review)
5. Please read Chapter 19 by mid-next week
6. Took a look at our Jugdges comments from science fair-see me for yours!
